Do you enjoy ice skating or watching people skate? Volunteer at the Pettit Center and help keep skaters on the ice. Volunteering at the Coolest Place in Town is a great way to get involved in our U.S. Olympic Training Site. It is also a perfect way to skate for FREE! All of our volunteers are welcome to skate for free during any of our public sessions, and receive other benefits as well. Volunteering at the Pettit Center is fun, and our volunteers help us in many ways.
Pettit Center volunteers help us provide a safe and enjoyable skating experience for all patrons of the Pettit National Ice Center. Below are some of the volunteer positions:
- Rink Guards. Rink Guards help us monitor public skating sessions. Guards’ duties include safety patrol and basic skills assistance. Rink guards are needed for day and evening skating sessions throughout the week and weekend.
You don’t have to skate to volunteer at the Pettit Center. Opportunities include:
- Office. Assist Front Office Staff (as needed) in preparation for big events or Skating School Classes. This could include registration processing, handing out Skating School t-shirts or assisting in other front office duties. Limited hours and availability.
- Skate Rental. Our skate department needs periodic assistance during the peak skating season. Volunteers in skate rental help the Pettit staff with the distribution and collection of ice skates during public sessions.
- Events and Competitions. Volunteer for an upcoming event or competition at the Pettit National Ice Center and you can see local, regional, national and international athletes as they compete in speed skating, hockey, and figure skating. Ushers, greeters, and hospitality volunteers are needed throughout the year.
