Basic Skills Levels 1-6 (Ages 6-12) – $99 per six week session
The Basic Skills Program teaches students progressively more difficult moves through six levels of skating. Upon completion of the Basic 1 through 6 Program, skaters will have knowledge of the sport enabling them to advance to more specialized areas of skating.
Some of the skills you will learn:
If a child is skating (or taking lessons) for the first time, the student should register for the Basic 1 class level. Students are evaluated at the first class session to gauge their skill/ability level, and are placed in another class if their skill is applicable.
Sit & stand up, Forward two-foot glide, Forward swizzles, Backward swizzles
Scooter pushes, Forward one-foot glide, Backward swizzles, Moving snowplow stop
Forward stroking, Forward half swizzle on pumps, Moving forward to backward two-foot turns, Backward one-foot glides
Forward edges on a circle, Forward crossovers, Backward half swizzle pumps, Backward one-foot glides
Backward edges on a circle, Backward crossovers, Forward outside three-turn, Hockey stop
Forward inside three-turn, Moving backward to forward two-foot turn, Bunny hop, Forward spiral
Please Note: Skate Rental is available, but not included in registration price ($18 for the six week class). Please purchase skate rental in advance online when purchasing your Skating School Class (if you need it) and as always, you are certainly welcome to bring your own skates.
2020-21 Class Dates (6 Week Sessions):
Thursday July 1- August 4 (6:00pm-6:40pm) NOTE: Week 6 of Classes will be moved from Thursday 8/5 to Wednesday 8/4. Start time remains the same
** 20 Min of Exclusive Practice Time Follows Each Class Time
Online registration will close at 12pm the day before each day’s first class. (Example: Saturday classes close on Friday at 12pm). ALL registrations must be completed online. No on site registration is available.
