Skating School at the Pettit Classes

Effective until March 1, 2022, City of Milwaukee Ordinance #210628- Face coverings are required inside all public buildings, which includes all spaces inside of the Pettit Center. Face coverings do not have to be worn by skaters on the ice, those on the run-walk track and/or those actively eating or drinking. If you are off the ice or track, masks are required. We respectfully request your consideration of others at all times in your social distancing and your health decisions.  If you are not feeling well or have been exposed to someone with COVID please stay home. The Center has been fortunate with the health of its staff and its users to date because all have been thoughtful and respectful of others in their activities here. 

Skate for Fun and Fitness!

Welcome to the Skating School at the Pettit! For over a decade we’ve provided expert skating instruction for tens of thousands of individuals in our learn-to-skate classes. Top Honors Program Whether you want to skate competitively or desire a fun fitness alternative, our instructors are ready to assist. And because the Pettit Center is a U.S. Olympic Training Site, you can bet we place a priority on providing a positive learning experience. U.S. Figure Skating recently awarded the Pettit Center its “Top Honors” designation. Skating School at the Pettit Highlights:

  • Classes are grouped by age and skating level
  • Every student receives multiple FREE Public Skating admissions to be used throughout the Skating School session. The number of admissions depends on the time of the year and consider these FREE admissions as additional practice time to work on your skating skills!
  • Students are graded and tested according to U.S. Figure Skating, U.S. Speedskating and USA Hockey standards.
  • Adult and youth classes are offered at the same time, so kids and parents can both enjoy lessons.

Please Note: Skate Rental is available, but not included in registration price ($18 for the six week class). Please purchase skate rental in advance online when purchasing your Skating School Class (if you need it) and as always, you are certainly welcome to bring your own skates.
