Skating School at the Pettit Teen/Adult Classes
Please Note: Skate Rental is available, but not included in registration price ($24 for the six week class). Please purchase skate rental in advance online when purchasing your Skating School Class (if you need it) and as always, you are certainly welcome to bring your own skates.
Teen/Adult Basic (Learn to Skate Classes)
1 – 6 (ages 13 & Older) – $99 per six week session
The teen/adult curriculum is designed to promote overall fitness, while mastering the basics of ice skating. Divided into six levels, teen/adult skaters will progress at an individual rate.
Some of the skills you will learn:
Teen/Adult 1
Falling and recovery, Forward two-foot glide, Forward swizzles, Forward snowplow stop
Teen/Adult 2
Forward skating across the ice, One-foot glides, Forward slalom, Backward skating
Teen/Adult 3
Forward stroking using blade properly, Forward half-swizzle pumps, Moving two-foot turn, Backward snowplow stop
Teen/Adult 4
Forward edges on a circle, Forward crossovers, Backward one-foot glides
Teen/Adult 5
Backward edges on circle and crossovers, Outside three-turn
Teen/Adult 6
Stroking with crossovers, Inside three-turn, Lunge
